UPDATE:

Confirmed that Java 9 breaks the dev studio. Rolling back to 1.8.161 fixes issue.

Hi @griggs

Please note that Java 9 shouldn’t be considered as “production ready” yet.
When going to official Java downloads ([https://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp](https://java.com/en/download/manual.jsp)), Java 8 is still the recommended version.
We’ll make sure to get ready for Java 9 ASAP.

@daav

Actually I found out the hard way - 9 is already shipping as an update to the JRE, I installed it as a standard update request from Oracle, not as a beta tester.

Look on the bright side - at least you got a stack trace! 😄

Yeah 😉
Please can you tell which Windows version you’re running? We didn’t see Java 9 being proposed as a regular update for now…

Just running Win 10 on a Dell Latitude. I did not do anything special like go direct to Oracle for the download, and my JDK was long since installed (Java 8 u 162). Gotta say, Eclipse REALLY did not like the mix, which may be the issue (JDK != JRE). I uninstalled all Java components and re-installed J8u162, problem fixed.
