Hi,
We are trying to use the fwupdate on the wp7702 (fx30 catm) and it output an error (after a fwupdate download and the automatic reboot):

root@fx30:~# fwupdate checkStatus
Connecting to service …
Bad status (Unknown), install not possible.

With the swiflash from developper studio our .cwe can be installed without problem

We are using the latest code available for the fx30-catm (with legato 18.06.1\_03c5394b4c271c054ae58a494f160e37)

Any idea on what is the problem with fwupdate?

Best regards,

Which fw are you going to update from legato 18.6.1? Do you have the full uart debug log begins from “fwupdate download”?

Hi,

I’m trying to upgrade from the official Sierra .cwe available on the website (FX30\_WP77xx\_full\_R9.1.1.013-generic.cwe) to our company FW.

Here is the output of the fwupdate checkStatus after the reboot:
root@fx30:~# fwupdate checkStatus
Connecting to service …
Update status: OK.

But the FW which run on the FX is still the Sierra FW…

Here is the output (from the logread):

After some test I found that both the Sierra FW from the site and and the compiled from source have the same behavior (won’t install a new fw). But the compiled one at least output an error (like the one from the first post)

Best regards,

I think you need to capture the debug log from uart.

Hi,

Sorry for the delay,

To sum up, I made some test:

- Case 1:
I flash with swiflash the fw (available on the website: FX30\_WP77xx\_full\_R9.1.1.013-generic.cwe).
I update with fwupdate the fw from the site
After the reboot the running fw is still the previous one.

- Case 2:
I flash with swiflash the fw (available on the website: FX30\_WP77xx\_full\_R9.1.1.013-generic.cwe).
I update with fwupdate the fw compiled from source (with leaf profile sync on the cat-m)
After the reboot the running fw is still the previous one.

- Case 3:
Flash all the FW (default downloaded, default compiled, our company fw) with developer studio tool: Legato Recovery Tool
After the reboot the running fw is the flashed one.

I set the mapuart properly and this is the uart output, after a fwupdate:

Here I tried to SCP the FX30\_WP77xx\_full\_R9.1.1.013-generic.cwe to the /tmp of WP7702 on Mangoh board, after that I typed “fwupdate download /tmp/FX30\_WP77xx\_full\_R9.1.1.013-generic.cwe”, it will undergo Fw update:

Hi,
I tried with an another FX30-Catm that I have and it also fail to update…

I found on the fw release not that: “Release 9.1.1.013 is not officially supported in Developer Studio.” I use developer studio only to flash the default FW (with swiflash). Does developer studio can broke fwupdate during the flashing operation?

you can transfer the file to /tmp by scp, and use local update command “fwupdate download” on module console.
In this way, you don’t need to use Developer studio.

What is the return with these commands?

Usually (on the FX30-3G) I use the fwupdate download but since on the catm this command does nothing (on both my fx-catm), I use developer studio to flash my company fw.

Here are the commands output (all commands on the default fw downloaded):

And after the reboot I get this (still the same fw):

I say fwupdate do nothing because it doesn’t want to update the firmware and doesn’t show any error.

Didn’t this already show fw update to the new one?

As you can see on the trace below (from the generic to the sierra), the fwupdate query is the same and the cm info output “GENERIC” instead of “SIERRA”.
